CCF Supports the Reintroduction of the Cardiomyopathy HEARTS Act
CCF Partners with Rep. Frank Pallone to Reintroduce the Cardiomyopathy HEARTS Act During Children's Cardiomyopathy Awareness Month, CCF partnered with Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-6), on the reintroduction of the Cardiomyopathy HEARTS Act, which will assess the research needs of cardiomyopathy across the lifespan, establish cardiomyopathy surveillance research, and create educational resources to disseminate to school administrators, educators, and families.

CCF Hosts AED Hunt on Capitol Hill During Awareness Month
Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation Hosts the 3rd AED Hunt on the Hill in Partnership with Congressman Phil Roe (TN-1) CCF worked with Representative Phil Roe (R-TN) to host the AED Hunt on the Hill in Washington D.C. on September 27. The educational event held at the Capitol during Children's Cardiomyopathy Awareness Month focused on cardiomyopathy, the risk of sudden cardiac arrest, and the importance of early defibrillation during a cardiac emergency. Members of Congress and congressional staff were invited to take photos with an AED for a social media awareness campaign.

4th International Scientific Conference Gathers World Leading Experts on Pediatric Cardiomyopathy
More than 60 top clinicians and researchers convened in Bethesda, MD in May for CCF's International Scientific Conference on Cardiomyopathy in Children. The meeting brought together a multidisciplinary group of scientists, cardiologist, geneticist and epidemiologists to share research findings and best practices, exchange knowledge, and identify research priorities on pediatric cardiomyopathy.

Cardiomyopathy can send families into a financial tailspin after their child's diagnosis. Out-of-pocket treatment expenses for cardiomyopathy can be as much as $62,000 per year. Medical costs for a child who needs a new heart can surpass $1 million.

Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation held the first AED Hunt on the Hill in partnership with Congresswoman Lois Capps
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) claims more than 295,000 lives in the United States every year, and it is the leading cause of death on school property. The AED Hunt on the Hill encouraged Members of Congress to take their photo with an AED to highlight the importance of AED accessibility and early defibrillation in the case of a cardiac emergency. CCF Partners with Sen. Menendez and Reps. Capps and Pascrell on Legislation to Protect Young Athletes from Sudden Cardiac Death
CCF has partnered with Sen. Menendez, Reps. Capps and Pascrell, and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association on a new bill focused on youth athlete safety that includes provisions for protecting student athletes from sudden cardiac arrest. The Supporting Athletes, Families, and Educators to Protect the Lives of Athletic Youth (SAFE PLAY) Act will provide educational resources to increase awareness of cardiomyopathy and other high-risk childhood cardiac conditions, as well as provide grants for cardiac training and equipment in public schools and set guidelines for emergency action plans for athletics.

CCF's Spring Appeal is Now Underway
Research on pediatric heart disease is extremely underfunded even though the years of potential life lost in a child is up to 75 times that of an adult. CCF's goal this Spring Appeal is to raise $50,000 to fund one more research study. Each study CCF funds has the potential to improve outcomes and quality of life for children with cardiomyopathy.

CCF’s All-In For A Cure No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament Takes Place in New York City
CCF’s sixth annual charity poker event was held at Providence in New York City on Feb 12. With a sold-out crowd of 260 attendees and 42 sponsors, CCF raised more than $240,000 for research and educational initiatives on pediatric cardiomyopathy. Ian Sandler took home the tournament grand prize - entry to the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas.
